We are surrounded by design, great design, arguably more so than at any time in our past.
It’s not just the Apple products, the Nike shoes and the calibrated sports drinks. Great design is how Target became what Kmart should have been if they hadn’t fallen asleep. It’s how Facebook avoided being MySpace. It’s why Tiffany’s is much more than gold bracelets and engraved stationary.
Don’t limit yourself to thinking of design as just products. Expand your mind’s eye. You are obligated to pay attention, ask questions and be curious. There is a new engagement; you might want to show up.
