Work Rewards the Brain | Editorial

Listen, I’m a worker. Never been afraid of honest hard work. It’s the apogee of great design; I know this without needing a second thought. It keeps us upright, focused, moving forward. The discipline of work rewards the brain, the senses. It’s in our bones, our soul. It engages us, keeps us attached to the earth, the world.

The opposite of hard work is not leisure, it’s limbo. You’re traveling without a compass. You can kill a man if you take his work away from him, a woman will soon get in her own way without it. We have all seen this time and again. An engine likes to be run; horses come alive with the prospect of real exercise.
